Bruce Alford

In Loving Memory

Billy Bruce Alford went home to be with the Lord on September 20, 2019. Whether you knew him by Bruce, Dad, Poppy, Pops, Bubba, Uncle Bubba, Billy Bruce, BB or Brucester; until we see him again he will be deeply missed.

Bruce was born in San Angelo on September 19, 1942 and lived here his entire life. He worked the majority of his career (35 years) at Goodyear Proving Grounds before retiring in 2003. Upon retirement he continued his passion of fixing “stuff”, buying and selling almost anything, and fishing until the dementia prevented him from doing the things he loved. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Leo Alford and Myrtle Ritter Alford both previously of San Angelo and his sister, Cherry Turner, also of San Angelo. In addition to his wife and two boys, Poppy is survived by 4 grandchildren; Kelsey Marie Maxey of Chicago, Illinois; Chase Peyton Alford of Richmond, TX; McKenzie Lynn and Mason Patrick Alford of Richardson, TX and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send their most sincere gratitude to the staff and nurses at Bronte Health and Rehabilitation Center. You loved our Bruce like he was family and we will be eternally grateful for the friendship, the caring and the support that each of you provided to him and our family. To the nurses on the 5th floor of Shannon Hospital, you were wonderful! And finally, to our caregivers from West Texas Rehabilitation Center’s Hospice of San Angelo, who were with us until the end, thank you for your kind hearts and your caring approach to taking care of him and our family. Our Family is appreciative off everything each of you did to care for our husband, father and grandfather – we are eternally grateful! In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please make donations to West Texas Rehabilitation Center’s Hospice of San Angelo.

A memorial service was held at 10:00AM on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Community Hills Christian Church.
